Rose, Preston Robinson, family papers, 1833-1921.

Papers of Rose reflect his activities as a planter, a rancher, and an organizer of the Gulf Coast Fair Association and also concern his participation in the California gold rush of 1849. Included is material dealing with Rose's family and the family of his wife, Mary Ann Scott Rose, particularly in regard to court cases and land. Papers contain the constitution of the Gulf Coast Fair Association and Rose's appointment as Victoria County commissioner in 1858, as well as correspondence, cotton sales records, slave sale documents, estate papers, deeds, litigation, records, and land grants.
